Eight Days in Africa tells the story of my first African safari from start to finish. Beginning at the time that the trip was first conceived of, following it through the planning stages, and ultimately covering the details of the hunt itself, this work is geared toward the sportsman who might be planning his own first safari.
Every detail of the hunt is provided, from the paperwork to the airline reservations to the shots and inoculations required to hunt in South Africa. If you are considering your own safari and are wondering what all is involved, these pages are dedicated to you.March, 2005 December, 2005 A Change of Plans January 2, 2006 Pete Odland January 10, 2006 First Contact January 17, 2006 Coincidence on an Internet Forum January 24, 2006 Getting in Shape for Africa January 30, 2006 A Call from Hannes February 7,2006 The Hunt is Booked June, 2006 Getting my Rifle Ready September, 2006 Airline Reservations December, 2006 Interlude: Deer Season February, 2007 Paperwork March 20, 2007 Another Talk With Hannes March 27, 2007 Inoculations April 1, 2007 Final Payment May, 2007 Coppersmith May 30, 2007 Flight Changes June 23, 2007 Three Weeks to Go July, 2007 Checklist July 14, 2007 Departure July 15, 2007 Day 1 July 16, 2007 Day 2 July 17, 2007 Day 3 July 18, 2007 Day 4 July 19, 2007 Day 5 July 20, 2007 Day 6 July 21, 2007 Day 7 July 22, 2007 Day 8 July 23, 2007 Leaving Africa August 2007 Lessons From Africa August 2007 An Updated Checklist August 18, 2007 Trophy Confirmations September, 2007 I've Been to Africa...
